Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Aboriginal Project Officer to join our Noarlunga Mental Health Inpatient Rehab Unit Project team.

This role will focus on spearheading initiatives to strengthen the Aboriginal workforce within SALHN's Mental Health Services, particularly in rehabilitation services.

The successful candidate will contribute to establishing Aboriginal practitioner roles within the inpatient rehabilitation unit and existing rehabilitation units like the Trevor Parry Centre.

This position plays a key role in developing a statewide training and orientation package for the Mental Health Rehabilitation workforce and broader MHS staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify consumer, community and service needs and gaps in the development and implementation of the Aboriginal Workforce in the MH Rehabilitation stream.
  • Deliver efficient and effective functions to support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of initiatives and projects which maximise the involvement of consumers in the planning and development of SA mental health services.
  • Facilitate Aboriginal community engagement.
About You

You will be successful in this role if you have demonstrated ability to liaise, consult and engage in a culturally sensitive manner with the Aboriginal community.

You should have proven experience with scoping, planning, implementing, managing and evaluating projects within allocated timeframes.

In addition, you should have experience in community engagement and participation, working in partnership with government agencies and community groups to deliver mutual outcomes.

You will also be responsible for preparing reports, briefings, and correspondence of some complexity, as well as developing education and training resources.
