The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team as a Construction Estimator with Advanced Risk Management. In this role, you will deliver accurate and timely building estimation services to ensure our tenders are accurate, competitive, and low-risk propositions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare initial estimating assessments of tenders for review by senior management, focusing on project content, risks, and opportunities to inform decision-making.
  • Finalize and present rated and coded Bill of Quantities and/or cost plans for internal review and stakeholder communication.
  • Tender startup process: ensure accurate document entry, perform timely trade break-ups, and liaise with subcontractors to guarantee they understand the scope of work and program requirements.
  • Analyze subcontractor pricing, draft project preliminaries, and finalize tender prices, minimizing risk exposure.
  • Conduct regular meetings with key subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and accurate bids.
  • Prepare job files for handover to project teams and create project budgets for review.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of tendering, building standards, estimating procedures, and the competitive market.
  • Thorough understanding of the building process and proven ability to identify and evaluate construction risk.
  • Ability to price tenders accurately and efficiently, where project values exceed $20 million.
  • Well-developed skills to engage with subcontractors and develop loyal relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail, including reading construction drawings for accurate pricing.
  • Confident presentation and participation in internal and external meetings.

Ideal Candidate

  • Construction, engineering, or quantity surveying degree or a building-related qualification or trade with additional experience to equate to a degree.
  • 6+ years of experience in a similar role in the construction industry.
  • Construction Safety Induction (white) card.

Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
