Chief Commercial Defense Attorney

Zurich 56 Company Ltd is a leading commercial insurance carrier seeking a skilled Chief Commercial Defense Attorney to join our in-house Staff Legal team.

The selected candidate will be responsible for representing our commercial insureds by preparing and trying high complexity, high exposure General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases. This role offers a unique opportunity to work independently while being part of a team-based environment.

• Preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents
• Performing legal research and analysis
• Conducting pre-trial discovery and trials
• Post-trial activities and case closure

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A Juris Doctor degree and at least 7 years of experience in Litigation
• An active membership in the Florida State Bar
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe
• Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw
• A strong understanding of the insurance industry, claims, and litigation environment

We are looking for candidates with:

• First-chair jury trial experience
• Ability to budget costs and calculate exposure for clients
• Efficient work habits and knowledge of billables and diary review
• Prior experience in an insurance defense environment

This full-time position is based in Maitland, Florida, with a hybrid schedule that allows for flexibility and remote work options.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
