We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Indigenous Health Liaison Specialist to join our team at UWorkin. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing support and advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide cultural consultancy and education to ensure health services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients are culturally appropriate and safe.
- Contribute to the work environment and the development of workplans and team goals.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
- Knowledge of the social determinants of health affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Ability to understand the whole health system ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are connected to the services applicable to their health needs.
- Interpersonal communications skills including negotiation and networking.
- Ability to manage own work with limited supervision through the use of planning and time management showing initiative and positive attitude.
- Ability to advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and demonstrate skills in verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team addressing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- An approved Certificate IV or Diploma qualification (or higher) in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, health, community/human services, or other field relevant to the role subject to the approval of the Office of First Nations Health.
- Blue Card Check required.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
