Senior Safety Systems Specialist

About the Role:

  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) in the area of train operations and safe working.
  • Contribute to the design and development of fit-for-purpose documentation to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance with rail safety national law.
  • Participate in the change management process for implementing the SMS.
  • Review and analyze safety performance data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement of the SMS.
  • Collaborate with the Training team to drive a risk-based approach to developing training requirements and to develop safety training around the SMS.

About You:

  • You must have experience in train operations and safe working, as well as broad knowledge of operational processes.
  • Developing and implementing changes to SMS documentation, designing and delivering safety training, and implementing improvement initiatives are highly desirable.
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is preferred.
  • You must be able to understand and interpret legislation.
  • You should be a collaborative self-starter who enjoys problem-solving and is meticulous, detail-oriented, and structured.
  • You must have confidence in relating, communicating, and negotiating with a wide variety of employees and stakeholders.
