About the Role

This position involves conducting high-level clinical/neuropsychological assessments and providing brief interventions for consumers and their families/carers affected by acute mental health problems.

As a member of the multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health Acute Inpatient Service (MHAIS), you will undertake complex and varied duties with clinical decisions based on valid and reliable evidence.

  • Key responsibilities include providing high-quality, evidence-based clinical/neuropsychology assessments, therapy, and interventions to consumers admitted to MHAIS.
  • You will work collaboratively with consumers and their families, carers, and other service providers to achieve identified consumer outcomes within a strong recovery framework.
  • Additionally, you will provide clinical practice supervision to less experienced psychologists and students on postgraduate placement, adhering to PsyBA guidelines.
  • Investment in the service through contributions resulting in improved service provision, better consumer outcomes, and discipline-specific activities is also expected.
Mandatory Requirements
  • It is mandatory to be vaccinated against certain vaccine-preventable diseases as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16.
  • General registration or eligibility for general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) is also required.
