Community Support Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team providing support and information to Victoria's most marginalized population.

About the Role

The Community Support Specialist will provide vital assistance with access to food services, hygiene, and information on partnering community resources and government services such as social housing applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a safe, welcoming environment for individuals entering our facility.
  • Provide first response to crisis intervention as required, including medical first response and overdose response.
  • Communicate with team members to deescalate and resolve situations.
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct basic individual counselling using techniques such as active listening and conflict resolution.
  • Report incidents, observations, and unsafe conditions through proper procedures.
  • Assist in the provision of outreach services.
  • Develop and implement short-term intervention plans within program guidelines.
  • Monitor services provided by volunteers to ensure consistency with our vision and mission.
Requirements
  • Diploma in a related human or social services field.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • One year recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
