The Role
As a Business Analyst with the Australian Government Department of Defence, you will play a critical role in enabling informed decision-making and driving business outcomes within the Regional Force Surveillance Group (RFSG). Your team will consist of a Unit Resource Manager, and habitual relationships with Junior Resource Managers located in the subordinate units.

Mentoring and training as part of professional development is likely to remain a feature of your duties. Your role in the RFSG includes overseeing financial and capability resource management, with a focus on delivering Closing the Gap elements.

As the subject matter expert, you will advise on moderate to complex business management and compliance issues. Other responsibilities include business analytics and trends analysis to inform decisions on resource allocations including salaries management, operating cash, and capability resources.

About the Opportunity
The Regional Force Surveillance Group is a lead contributor to the Army Indigenous Community Engagement and Development (AICED) strategy in northern Australia. RFSG is linked closely to delivering Closing the Gap elements.

The Group is people-focussed, and consists of approximately 1500 soldiers and officers. The Headquarters' primary responsibility is to plan and co-ordinate surveillance effects across Northern Australia.

The operations team consists of approximately eight staff who are broadly focussed on planning and co-ordinating the three subordinate Regiments to achieve these tasks. The BA has a close working relationship with the Operations Officer, and reports to the Group Commander, who is the senior officer.

Key Responsibilities
• Advise and assist in developing financial and resource-based solutions that contributes to RFSG's effort to strengthen northern communities and their people;
• Plan and advise resource management in accordance with priorities and within a directed budget;
• Analyse data for trends, and communicate and advise solutions to a range of stakeholders;
• Work in small teams, and manage and mentor less experienced resource managers;
• See the purpose and positive outcomes generated for Indigenous soldiers and their communities through engagement with Army.
