Emergency Services Recovery Officer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Emergency Services Recovery Officer to join our team in North Queensland. As a key member of our recovery operations, you will play a critical role in supporting communities before, during, and after emergencies.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in emergency management, project management, or community engagement, and will be able to lead engagement and advocacy activities, support workshops and training, and work closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers to build local knowledge, capability, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead engagement and advocacy activities to support community resilience and preparedness
  • Support workshops and training to enhance the skills and capacity of staff and volunteers
  • Work closely with stakeholders to build local knowledge, capability, and confidence
Requirements:
  • Relevant four-year degree with one-year relevant experience or three-year degree with two years of relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience in emergency management, project management, or community engagement and/or community development
  • Ability to set priorities, plan, and organise own work and that of other staff and volunteers as required
  • Previous experience in delivering project/program outcomes
  • Ability to effectively support communities before, during, or after a disaster
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Mandatory Requirements: Clearance to work with children (Blue Card) is required for this role.
