We are partnering with a leading tertiary education institution to recruit a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial Lawyer on a 6-month basis. This contractor role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional to support the institution's commercial legal needs. Remote work options are available for added flexibility.

The Role

As Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial), you will work closely with internal teams and external partners to provide expert legal advice on a range of commercial matters. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Advising stakeholders on legal risks, compliance, and strategic decisions.
  • Managing complex transactions and legal processes to support the institution's business goals.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and institutional policies.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners, suppliers, and government agencies.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • A strong understanding of the tertiary education or public sector landscape (preferred but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-driven approach to legal challenges.
