Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead building projects within Dandenong. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful council projects, managing all phases of project delivery from design through to handover.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversight of all project stages, including design, permits, procurement, construction, and final handover.
  • Providing expert advice on project briefs, agreements, budget bids, and feasibility studies.
  • Liaising with clients, users, and maintenance staff to define project requirements and ensure they are incorporated.
  • Preparing risk and issue management plans, and monitoring their implementation.
  • Managing project resources and timelines, ensuring quality and adherence to budget.
  • Supervising consultants and contractors, ensuring project compliance and effective communication.
  • Reporting on project status internally and externally, maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
Leadership Requirements
  • Promoting professionalism, ethical standards, and integrity within the Directorate.
  • Providing clear direction and fostering open communication within project teams.
  • Leading daily project management, offering feedback to consultants and contractors.
  • Ensuring adherence to OH&S and risk management standards for a safe work environment.
Contract Management
  • Recommending procurement methods and assisting in preparing and evaluating tenders.
  • Overseeing contract implementation, ensuring compliance and value for money.
  • Managing contract variations and ensuring all project requirements are met.
Financial Management
  • Preparing and monitoring project budgets, ensuring financial resources are utilized effectively.
  • Complying with council financial and auditing requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate records and providing regular financial reports to the Coordinator and Council.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven track record in managing building projects valued at over $10M.
  • Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification in project management.

  • Residing in Australia with full work rights.
  • A commitment to casual roles with a proven track record of good attendance and punctuality.
