Senior Taxation Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced taxation specialist to join our team in Sydney. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing complex taxation returns, providing expert advice to clients, and contributing to the development of our tax division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft client correspondence and assist with research and preparation of tax advice.
  • Prepare and present accurate taxation returns and workpapers, addressing technical queries from clients.
  • Update and review taxation publications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of tax laws and regulations, staying up-to-date with latest developments.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with senior managers to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
  • Conduct due diligence on prospectuses, researching tax implications and identifying potential risks.
  • Research and analyze tax information from government agencies and other sources, applying expertise to inform business decisions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients and industry partners.
  • Other general administrative matters, such as timesheet management and billing processes.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in a taxation environment, preferably within a Chartered/CPA accounting practice.
  • Degree qualified, preferably with a background in law or finance.
  • Excellent understanding of tax laws and regulations, with ability to apply knowledge in complex scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
