Job Title: Specialist Cancer Physician

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Clinical Oncologist to work in South Wales as a locum consultant. As a specialist cancer physician, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to cancer patients and managing their treatment across various stages of the disease.

About the Opportunity:

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality radiotherapy and systemic therapy treatments using some of the most advanced medical equipment available. The field of oncology is constantly evolving, with new treatments and breakthroughs happening regularly.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Support patients and their families by explaining diagnoses, stages of cancer, and treatment options in a clear and practical manner.
  2. Assist in managing the side effects and symptoms of cancer and its treatment, including pain management.
  3. Coordinate and prescribe various treatments, including chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
  4. Deliver radiation therapy for clinical oncologists.
  5. Provide continuous monitoring and care for seriously ill or unstable patients.
  6. Engage in shared decision-making with patients.
  7. Work within and, where appropriate, lead a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Prioritize patient needs and delegate effectively to others.
  9. Recognize, review, and report changes in patient conditions to the multidisciplinary team.
  10. Perform administrative tasks such as keeping records, writing prescriptions, and monitoring treatment plans.
Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:
  • GMC registered Doctor (you do not need to be on the Specialist Register).
  • Relevant experience at Consultant level or references to support your transition to Consultant level.
  • Evidence of stand-alone Right to Work in the UK (unfortunately, locum jobs cannot offer visa sponsorship).
  • You will need to pass an enhanced background check (DBS).
