Infection Prevention and Control Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to support the hospital's infection prevention program.

This key leadership role is responsible for implementing and managing the infection prevention strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and staff health and education.

The successful candidate will lead the Infection Prevention and Control program, overseeing monitoring systems, auditing and reporting hospital results, and maintaining data collection and evaluation systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the Infection Prevention and Control program at the hospital.
  • Oversight and management of monitoring systems, including risk assessments, antimicrobial stewardship, hand hygiene activities, and reprocessing of reusable medical devices.
  • Auditing and reporting hospital results relating to infection prevention and control.
  • Maintenance of data collection, evaluation, and reporting systems.
  • Participation in facility planning for accreditation and external audits.
  • Expertise in workforce vaccination and coordination of immunisation data management systems.
  • Reporting to hospital executives and committees on infection control risks and issues.
  • Participation in education, training, and competency assessment for staff.

Requirements include:

Tertiary qualifications in infection prevention and control or a related discipline, registration as a nurse, and experience working in an acute healthcare setting.

Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of relevant legislative requirements and Australian standards, and the ability to analyse and review data to drive opportunities for improvement.
