Waste Service Operator Role

Council is seeking a Waste Service Operator to play a vital role in delivering a quality waste collection and disposal service to the community.

This position involves operating various plant and vehicles, including heavy-rigid vehicles, trucks, and related machinery. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

  1. Operate side-loading rubbish & recycle trucks, loaders, and rear-loading litter & verge trucks, ensuring efficient and effective waste management.
  2. Maintain vehicle logs, perform routine daily maintenance, and act as vehicle custodian.
  3. Collect and maintain 240-litre mobile garbage bins, prioritizing cleanliness and hygiene.
  4. Collect verge-side green waste, including illegally dumped material, promoting environmental sustainability.
  5. Litter collection from park and street bins, upholding community standards.
  1. Repair, assemble, and deliver bins, including installation of street litter bins, ensuring seamless services.

We are looking for a candidate with an HR truck license, minimum HR-A, waste industry experience, and solid history operating heavy-rigid vehicles/trucks. Strong map-reading and navigation skills, traffic management ticket, and experience working in a team-oriented environment are also essential.

The role offers full-time permanent positions, 38 hours a week, 4-day week, and 9.5 hour days on a rotating roster. Additionally, we provide $39.41 per hour plus super, overtime penalty rates, and paid annual leave loading.
