Scientist - Continuous Shift

We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Scientist - Continuous Shift in our laboratory. This position involves performing scientific analyses in various disciplines, including Transfusion Medicine, Haematology, Chemical Pathology, and Microbiology within a continuous shift rostering arrangement.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Analysis and Testing: Apply independent scientific judgement to analyse patient specimens, verifying and validating test results as needed.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Conduct diagnostic testing and related duties following established protocols and standards in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Rostering Arrangement: Participate in a 24-hour rostering arrangement, including weekends and Public Holidays.
  • Scientific Practices: Develop and implement scientific practices, procedures, and research activities within a multi-specialist work area to support the continuum of care.
  • Multi-Specialist Duties: Apply high-level knowledge and skills to multi-specialist duties with minimal clinical practice supervision out of hours.
Requirements:
  • A tertiary degree qualification in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognised university or institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in diagnostic testing and clinical interpretation of results within a multi-disciplinary laboratory.
  • Ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
  • Ability to apply established principles to a multidiscipline service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client-focused manner.
