Job Description

The Opportunity:

Our team is seeking a dedicated and community-focused professional to ensure Aboriginal families can engage confidently and equitably with our program – a research initiative focused on early intervention for young children showing signs of developmental delay.

This role plays a vital part in building and maintaining respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, and families. You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting Aboriginal families during intake and exit from the program.
  • Advocating for families and assisting practitioners in delivering culturally safe and respectful services.
  • Representing the program at forums, events, and community meetings.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders and the broader community to raise awareness and promote understanding of the program.

This position will work across both Perth Children's Hospital in Nedlands, and our CliniKids Subiaco site. This is a part-time position until November 2026.

Requirements

For this role, we require:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the cultural, social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal communities.
  • Experience in community engagement, health promotion or stakeholder liaison.
  • Confidence in providing culturally appropriate information to individuals and families.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivation and flexibility, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • A genuine interest in child development and early intervention (experience in this area is desirable).
