Job Opportunity: Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to support local government operations across Southeast Queensland (SEQ). This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a role that contributes to environmental sustainability and community safety.

About the Role:

This position involves conducting tests, analysing samples, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards to support council initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting, preparing, and analysing water, soil, and environmental samples.
  • Conducting tests using specialised equipment and recording accurate data.
  • Assisting in the calibration, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintaining detailed records and preparing technical reports.
  • Supporting the implementation of laboratory best practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A qualification in Laboratory Technology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in a laboratory environment, preferably within local government or a regulated sector.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
