Learning Opportunity in Foster Care and Residential Services

As a participant in this learning opportunity, you will have the chance to engage with MacKillop's comprehensive framework for supporting student placements.

This framework is designed to ensure that students receive quality supervision, extensive training, and learning and development opportunities. You will have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including:

  • Sanctuary Training: A trauma-informed, whole-of-organisation framework that guides how we respond as an agency.
  • LGBTIQA+ Inclusivity Practices: We strive to create an inclusive environment for all individuals.
  • Disability Awareness: Understanding and respecting the needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Cultural Awareness: Appreciating and valuing diversity in our community.

Depending on your course relevance, you may also be able to attend further professional development opportunities, such as Communities of Practice in Foster Care or Residential Services, Therapeutic Life Story Work - All About Me and More About Me, Trauma Informed Care, Power to Kids, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and Healing Matters.

We operate a centralised intake process for Student Placements. If you are interested in a student placement with us, please speak with your Education Provider to see if we have an established partnership and can accommodate your placement. Individual placement requests from students will not be considered.

Student Suitability and Compliance Checks

MacKillop is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in our programs. To achieve this, we require all students to complete and/or provide the following:

  • Student Placement Application Form
  • Relevant compliance checks, including National Police Check, WWCC, NDIS Screening Check, and International Police Check (if applicable)
  • Current state-based Drivers Licence
  • Current resume
  • Two professional referee checks (may be requested)
  • Successful interview
