Accounting Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Team Lead to join our team in a client-facing role.

About This Role
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial management, preferably in a client-facing or review role.
  • Prior experience managing a distributed team of professionals is essential.
  • CPA/CA qualified or equivalent professional designation is preferred.
  • Experience using accounting software, particularly Xero, is required, while experience with add-ons like Dext, Hubdoc, or Fathom is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors before work is submitted to clients is crucial.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—are necessary for this role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines are required.
  • Confident working independently and problem-solving with initiative are key qualities for success in this position.
  • A client-centric mindset with a genuine interest in helping businesses improve their financial performance is essential.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee end-to-end bookkeeping and month-end reporting for a portfolio of clients.
  • Review and quality-check work completed by junior accountants, including reconciliations and coding.
  • Manage and deliver compliance obligations such as BAS, IAS, Superannuation, and Payroll.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, answering ad hoc queries, resolving issues and providing clear communication.
  • Support the Managing Director with financial analysis, reporting and ad hoc client needs.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by maintaining high standards of accuracy, timeliness and communication.
  • Identify potential improvements in client processes and highlight opportunities for growth or efficiency.
