We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trader to join our team in Global Energy Management.

As a Spot Trader, you will play a crucial role in optimising and managing our assets and portfolio within the spot physical markets.

This includes executing effective short-term trading and commercial strategies, as well as managing commodity market risk exposures.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of power and gas system operations, excellent communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • You will oversee real-time and day-ahead power and gas positions to ensure optimal performance and risk management
  • Execute effective short-term trading and commercial strategies to maximise profits
  • Manage commodity market risk exposures to ensure the company's financial stability
About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Engineering or other relevant area, with experience across generation, gas and retail business commercial operations, relating to a physical spot market, preferably in Australia.

They will also possess excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create models and analyse data to reinforce commercial decisions and understand market conditions.

A high level of IT competency, particularly in MS Excel and typical energy market trading systems, is essential for this role.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversight of real-time and day-ahead power and gas positions to ensure optimal performance and risk management
  2. Executing effective short-term trading and commercial strategies to maximise profits
  3. Managing commodity market risk exposures to ensure the company's financial stability
