About the Position

The La Trobe Rural Health School is a leading institution in rural health education, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality programs in nursing and midwifery. We are seeking an experienced and passionate lecturer to join our team and contribute to the development of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and deliver subjects and courses in nursing and midwifery, ensuring that teaching content is innovative and engaging.
  • Implement and evaluate new methods for delivering teaching content, with a focus on developing entry-level midwives and nurses.
  • Contribute to the promotion and recruitment of students for our nursing and midwifery programs, and support student retention.
  • Provide input to course accreditation requirements and activities, ensuring that teaching and related activities comply with accreditation and policy requirements.
  • Contribute to research teams within the La Trobe Rural Health School and the University, leading to formal research outputs.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local, national, and international organizations to facilitate teaching, clinical placements, and research in nursing and midwifery.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated clinical/industry experience as a practicing Dual Registered Midwife and Registered Nurse with current registration.
  • Clear understanding of accreditation requirements and skill capabilities of entry-level registered nurses and registered midwives.
  • Appreciation of industry-level trends and requirements to inform teaching and research activities.
  • Passion for rural health and wellbeing, and an understanding of rural healthcare needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise or co-supervise honours and postgraduate students.
  • Ability to use technology to facilitate innovative and engaging presentations of teaching materials and research outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills to present scientific and non-scientific information to relevant forums.
  • Experience and success in leading and managing teams, and working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in preparing research proposal submissions to external funding bodies, and evidence of success in securing research funding.
Additional Requirements
  • Dual Registration - Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife NMBA|AHPRA.
