The Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works is seeking an experienced professional to join the Mackay team as a Principal Planning Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to regional development through statutory and strategic land use planning services provided by the department in a regional setting.
About the Role
As a team member of the Planning and Development Services division, in Planning Group, you will have the opportunity to contribute technical expertise and planning and development best practices to the regions we service. Each regional office focuses on assisting local governments in implementing the States Assessment Referral Agency (SARA), the teams play a critical role in assessing development applications on behalf of the State.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of regional planning strategies and policies
- Assess development applications and provide recommendations to the State
- Collaborate with local governments and other stakeholders to implement SARA
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to regional teams
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Strong technical knowledge of planning and development principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
