About the Role

As a Fire Protection Specialist with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, you will be part of a team that ensures the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in emergency situations.

Purpose of the Role

The role involves delivering high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency. This collaborative approach across the service and with key stakeholders delivers improved safety outcomes for the community.

Main Responsibilities
  • Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team, adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
  • Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities.
  • Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses provided by the QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
  • Maintain the required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
  • Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
Key Accountabilities
  1. Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team, adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
  2. Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities.
  3. Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses provided by the QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
  4. Maintain the required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
  5. Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  6. Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
  7. Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
  8. Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required.

Salary:$59,177 - $84,427 per annum (base salary range)
