Primary Care Specialist

As a Medical Officer working within the Australian Defence Force, you will provide essential medical care and support to Defence personnel.

You will form part of a multidisciplinary team striving for optimal health outcomes.

Your role is pivotal in assessing Defence personnel for fitness and providing care that supports their wellbeing pre and post deployments.

You will deliver primary medical care to patients according to professional standards and Defence Policies.

Medical technical advice will be provided to senior officers and commanders.

Close collaboration with a team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues ensures high-quality care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering primary medical care in accordance with professional standards and Defence Policies.
  • Providing medical technical advice to senior officers and commanders.
  • Assessing Defence personnel for fitness and supporting their wellbeing pre and post deployments.

Requirements:

  • High integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Current unconditional registration as a Medical Practitioner, General, in Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years full-time general practitioner experience within the last 5 years.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development activities.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification.
