Careers for a Counsellor (Lvl 1-2) Role in Aboriginal Health Team
We are seeking a qualified Counsellor to join our team and contribute positively to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities.
As a Counsellor, you will form part of a multidisciplinary team providing culturally responsive care navigation and psychological interventions to Aboriginal clients and their families dealing with issues related to substance use.
Your contribution will play a key role in shaping a more inclusive and effective health system for Aboriginal people by delivering therapeutic interventions that respect cultural identity and community connection.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and deliver counselling sessions while collaborating with Aboriginal Health Workers to ensure culturally safe care
- Provide individual and group-work interventions in various settings to reduce drug-related harm
- Participate in professional development, cultural supervision, clinical supervision, teaching, quality activities, and other relevant duties
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification as a Registered Counsellor
- Experience in delivering culturally responsive, harm-reduction-based counselling and case management
- Strong communication skills for person-centred care plans and collaboration with health professionals
- Australian C-Class driver's license
