The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation and regulations throughout the construction process. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining project environmental plans and procedures, as well as performing all required environmental monitoring and assessment in line with the environmental management system.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated individual with a sound understanding of environmental management principles and their application within the construction industry. Experience in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions in project delivery and implementation is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will possess specialist knowledge in environmental management and sustainability, with the ability to lead high-level investigations involving multiple internal and external parties. Proficiency in monitoring, reviewing, investigative review techniques, reporting, and continuous improvement on performance and compliance is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies and initiatives that foster a high-performance culture and employee engagement, including defining performance and behavioral expectations for individuals, teams, and the overall project.
  • Monitor and manage operational activities to ensure they meet environmental requirements.
  • Oversee the daily delivery of the project's environmental functions.
  • Conduct environmental reviews, field inspections, and site assessments.
  • Support the SHEQ manager by liaising with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance, and solving high-level issues by advising operational management on environmental matters.
  • Conduct site inspections and audit operational activities against environmental permits.
  • Prepare compliance reports and progressively update compliance registers.
  • Participate in environmental audits and oversee the closure of audit actions.
  • Promote awareness of environmental protection policies, strategies, and other regulatory requirements within the project.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
