Head Chef Job Description

Job Summary:

The Head Chef is responsible for leading a team of culinary professionals in the operation of our commercial kitchen and dining service. The successful candidate will have previous leadership experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in senior care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prepare fresh and nutritious meals for residents, taking into account their dietary needs and preferences.
  • Manage all resources within the kitchen, including equipment and food supplies, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment that meets or exceeds quality standards.
  • Collaborate with residents on menu design and meal times to ensure a high-quality dining experience.
  • Prepare texture-modified diets and supplements as required.
  • Ensure all meals are visually appealing and meet the highest standards of presentation.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, such as Concierge, to provide food for special events.
Requirements:
  • A strong passion for providing high-quality care to seniors.
  • Excellent customer-centric approach and relationship-building skills.
  • Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a senior care setting.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with older adults.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety principles.
  • Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is an asset.
  • Proficient in using computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
