Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled engineer to lead our infrastructure development team. This role will focus on designing and implementing Council's infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with planning regulations and codes.

About the Role

  • The successful candidate will have expertise in civil engineering design and construction principles, as well as knowledge of relevant acts, legislation, and Australian Standards.
  • They will be responsible for reviewing Town Planning Applications and setting planning permit conditions, as well as providing professional advice on subdivision development.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mind and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Civil Engineering Design and Development: Provide engineering expertise in the design of Council's infrastructure on new subdivisions and developments.
  • Town Planning Application Review: Review Town Planning Applications and set planning permit conditions.
  • Engineering Plan Review: Review engineering plans for compliance with Planning permit conditions, PSP's, 173 agreements, Council and EDCM standards.
  • Professional Advice: Provide professional advice in relation to subdivision development.
  • Cost Estimation: Review engineering cost estimates to calculate plan checking fees, supervision fees, maintenance and outstanding works bonds as required.
  • Site Visits: Attend site visits and liaise with developers, consultants and other key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil engineering design and construction principles.
  • Knowledge of relevant acts, legislation, Australian Standards, council bylaws and codes of practice concerning the development of municipal infrastructure within a Local Government sphere.
  • High level of analytical skills that allow for the comprehensive assessment and evaluation of development proposals.
  • Well-developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge and experience to the interpretation of technical drawings and engineering design plans.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude.
