About the Role:

The Civil Operations Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of Council's civil assets, including roads, street furniture, stormwater pits, creeks and other infrastructure. The successful candidate will act as a key advisor to the Manager, community, staff and Council in relation to civil assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review annual budgets and monitor expenditure against work projects in consultation with the Manager, Civil Asset Maintenance.
  • Direct and lead supervisors and operational teams in the completion of their duties and optimise resource utilisation for delivery of work programs and projects.
  • Maintain regular communication with staff through regular toolbox and team meetings (minimum 12 meetings within a calendar year).
  • Ensure monthly status reports are prepared in relation to performance of programs and allocated program budget.
  • Provide technical and specialist skills for the delivery of work projects.
  • Ensure the efficient coordination and assessment of suitable plant and machinery for the section and provide recommendations for use, care, management, replacement and acquisition of plant and equipment.
  • Ensure effective application of project management principles for deployment of work programs for outdoor staff and contractors.
  • Identify continuous improvement and innovative solutions for improving processes to increase productivity and efficiency within the unit.
  • Coordinate deployment and efficient utilisation and placement of contractors to complete civil work programs.
  • Prepare response correspondence to enquiries from external and internal parties, including Councillors, Committees and Senior Council staff.
  • Ensure that contractors and other service providers comply with Service Level Agreements and contracts.
  • Prepare cost estimates, list and implement and deliver projects in the works improvement program.

Salary: The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
