Secondary Art Educator Position

Overview of the Role:

This position is for a skilled Secondary Art Teacher who can inspire and motivate students to develop their artistic talents and abilities.

Job Description:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inspiring art lessons for secondary students, integrating Steiner education principles into the curriculum.
  • Teach IBDP Visual Art to senior students, providing guidance and support throughout the course.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and artistic exploration.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development as artists.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enrich the educational experience of students.
  • Actively participate in the school community, including attending staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), or eligibility for registration.
  • Experience teaching art at the secondary level, preferably with senior students.
  • Familiarity with the IBDP Visual Art curriculum and willingness to undergo training if not already certified.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians.
  • A creative and innovative approach to teaching, with a passion for inspiring students to develop their artistic talents and abilities.
