The Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing and sub-editing digital content for news websites using CoreMedia and other production systems.
  • Working under the direction of the Digital Editor to write and check stories for factual and style errors/inconsistencies.
  • Liaising with newsroom colleagues from TV and radio and the online central editorial team covering territory wide stories.
  • Contributing ideas for digital coverage of territory wide stories and events and taking part in editorial meetings as required.
  • Maintaining an understanding of current events and issues, monitoring a wide range of media outlets/sources.
  • Developing and fostering a network of contacts and sources.

About You

We are looking for a skilled Digital journalist with experience of working in a news environment and strong understanding of online news and social media. You should have sound methods of online content distribution and engagement.

Key skills and qualifications:

  • A demonstrated track record as a meticulous, fast and accurate sub-editor able to correct and, where necessary, rewrite copy to the highest standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
  • A wide range of knowledge of local, national and international news issues with a strong understanding of and commitment to the needs of the audience.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work accurately and autonomously to tight deadlines are essential.
