Job Title: Senior Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our client's dynamic team. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for contributing to project 'buildability' during the design phase, reviewing preliminary specifications, and developing detailed project scopes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to project 'buildability' during the design phase to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Review preliminary specifications, drawings, and other documents to determine project scope.
  • Develop detailed project scopes in collaboration with the Project Manager and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and service requirements throughout the project.
  • Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities and cost plans in a timely manner.
  • Send out tender packages to approved subcontractors, suppliers, and trades.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Prepare tender submissions in partnership with the Project Manager.
  • Stay updated on the latest design and construction techniques to provide innovative solutions for clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel and sheet steel estimating in the manufacturing/fabrication industry.
  • Solid understanding of welded products and the engineering processes behind fabricated steel products.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering and architectural drawings and determining the scope of works.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, with initiative and the ability to confidently read and interpret specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in compiling tenders and quotes.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience in a similar role.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in mining or construction project estimating will be highly advantageous.
  • Tertiary qualifications in building, engineering, quantity surveying, or related fields (desirable).
  • Experience in the mining, large-scale industry, and infrastructure sectors (desirable).
