We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Specialist to join our team in delivering Property and Asset Services across South Australia and the Northern Territory.

About the Role
  • Our ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and mitigating environmental risks associated with the maintenance of Defence estate and delivery services.
  • They will lead initiatives related to net zero strategies, change programs, and stakeholder engagement to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Additionally, they will assist in identifying opportunities for savings and implementing improvements to energy consumption.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Align practices with national waste policy and waste minimisation targets.
  • Identify opportunities for savings and implement improvements to energy consumption in line with contract deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate key environmental risks related to the maintenance of defence estate and delivery of services.
  • Implement environmental management practices in accordance with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
  • Conduct comprehensive audits of energy, water, and waste management, including feasibility studies, technology/product reviews, and building ratings.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of energy, water, and waste data to optimise performance and provide accurate and actionable insights.
About You
  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field is required.
  • Professional certification in environmental management or sustainability is highly desirable.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining environmental management systems and familiarity with statutory requirements.
  • Experience in leading and managing sustainability initiatives and projects.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Proven track record in conducting assessments and audits related to energy, water, and waste management.
