The Disability Liaison Specialist plays a critical role in promoting accessibility and inclusion across the institution. This key position works closely with students, staff, and external partners to identify and implement reasonable adjustments to teaching and assessment practices, as well as inclusive educational programs.
As a Disability Liaison Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to promote accessibility and inclusion, working collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Your strong understanding of disability legislation, combined with your ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and support to students with disabilities to ensure equal access to education
- Collaborate with staff and external partners to develop and implement inclusive educational programs
- Identify and implement reasonable adjustments to teaching and assessment practices
- Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organizations to promote accessibility and inclusion
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in Education, Disability, Inclusion, Health, Community Services or related field
- Significant experience working with people with accessibility needs or a health condition, preferably within the tertiary education sector
- A strong understanding of disability legislation and its implications for education and training
- Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting inclusive educational programs
