Job Title: Design and Engineering Project Lead

Description:

Design and engineering project leads play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of complex technical projects. They are responsible for overseeing the multidisciplinary design team, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned, and that design solutions meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a multidisciplinary design team to deliver high-quality technical projects on time
  • Liaising with clients, internal and external teams, and construction to ensure alignment and integration of design solutions
  • Monitoring and controlling design expenditures using robust tracking systems to optimize budgets and prevent overruns
  • Ensuring all deliverables meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards through effective QA processes
  • Directing primary and secondary design, conducting design reviews, and collaborating with external consultants on electrical studies

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a design manager or lead on major energy infrastructure projects (HV/EHV substations)
  • Primary design engineering experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering)
  • CPEng or working towards it
  • Membership (or eligibility) with a relevant engineering body (e.g., Engineers Australia)
