About the Role

As a Junior Engineer in our Core Banking Engineering Team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions that deliver a seamless customer experience at scale. This involves working collaboratively with multiple business areas to drive innovation and adaptability.

ANZ Australia Retail & Commercial Core Systems is a conglomerate of applications managing deposits, savings, loans, debit and credit cards, transactions, and customers. Servicing multiple business units and tribes across ANZ, we run mission-critical applications that bring significant challenges to solve and engineer.

We engineer systems processing thousands of customer transactions per second in real-time and providing services consumed by tens of millions daily.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coding, scripting, performing design and code reviews, and participating in architecture discussions
  • Preparing program specifications and diagrams and developing logic flowcharts
  • Developing products primarily in COBOL, IMS, Assembler, and DB2
  • Understanding business, technical, and program requirements
  • Applying coding and analytical skills throughout the system lifecycle
  • Demonstrating a willingness to build competency in your discipline
  • Providing time estimates related to programming efforts
  • Automating using CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitoring application performance
  • Performing additional duties as required
