Job Summary:
The Brisbane Boys' College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educational Leader and Deputy Head of Secondary to join our team. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in fostering a culture of care and wellbeing within our Secondary School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Leadership: Oversee the Pastoral Care Program and THRIVE program, support Heads of Year, and manage pastoral reports and behavior management strategies.
- Wellbeing Initiatives: Develop and implement programs that enhance mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing.
- Support Staff Coordination: Collaborate with counsellors and support personnel to address student needs and manage meetings with Heads of Year.
- Student Support and Intervention: Assist with student orientation, develop intervention strategies for at-risk students, and lead safeguarding efforts.
- Policy and Crisis Management: Contribute to policy development, manage crisis situations, and oversee wellbeing programs and events.
- Community Engagement: Organise workshops for parents and the community and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Passion for Student Care and Wellbeing: A genuine commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Experience in Pastoral Leadership: Proven experience in developing and implementing wellbeing programs and leading pastoral care initiatives.
- Excellent Communication and Organisational Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents, and to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Understanding of Positive Psychology and Safeguarding: Knowledge of positive psychology principles and safeguarding practices.
Selection Criteria:
- Minimum 4-Year Teaching Qualification: A minimum of 4 years of teaching experience, with a higher qualification advantageous.
- At Least 5 Years in a Middle Leadership Position: At least 5 years of experience in a middle leadership position within an educational institution.
- Ability to Work with Teachers, School Executive, Students, and Parents: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, school executive, students, and parents.
- Genuine Christian Faith and Ability to Model Christian Values: A genuine Christian faith and ability to model Christian values.
- Strong Problem-Solving Skills, Commitment to Hard Work, and Confidentiality: Strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to hard work, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Advanced Capacity for Data Analysis, Communication, and Leadership: Advanced capacity for data analysis, communication, and leadership.
