The Catholic Schools Office Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Mission and Justice Officer to join their team in 2025 for 12 months.

As a leading provider of quality education grounded in Catholic values, the CSO supports schools in developing and implementing social justice initiatives that foster a sense of moral integrity and social responsibility among students, staff, and the wider faith community.

Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to:

  • collaborate with schools to develop and implement effective social justice programs;
  • strengthen partnerships and programs with Catholic agencies serving marginalized communities;
  • promote Catholic Identity Improvement Tool (CIIT) aligned initiatives;
  • support efforts to foster and sustain Catholic identity within schools across the Diocese.

This position requires a Practising Catholic with a deep understanding of baptismal call to share and witness the good news of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Catholic Social Teachings and experience in developing Social Justice initiatives.

Requirements
  • a four-year trained teacher qualification;
  • Active NESA and AWTL Accreditation;
  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number;
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training.

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
