Casual Paralegal Opportunity in Criminal Assets Litigation

We are seeking a skilled Paralegal to join our Criminal Assets Litigation team on a casual basis. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team of litigators in conducting civil litigation under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Cth) and Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1987 (Cth).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general administration and file maintenance, including scanning, printing and filing, file opening and closing and data entry
  • Provide assistance with preparing and drafting court documents
  • Undertake legal research, information retrieval and project work
  • Assist with examinations in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal
  • Prepare briefs to counsel
  • Review and provide summaries of evidence
  • Conduct legal research
  • Undertake litigation searches and registrations on databases such as Dye & Durham and PPSR

Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (Secret) security clearance
  • Excellent team orientation and a positive attitude
  • Effective time management skills and an outcomes focus to meet assigned deadlines
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • The professional maturity to work in a high pressure and high security environment
