Job Title: Principal Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team at Onset Group. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our cloud native technologies, ensuring the reliability and resilience of our systems.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to shape the direction of our SRE function and work closely with our leadership team to drive technical strategy. You will be responsible for evangelizing best practices to our 30+ platforms and creating dedicated function teams where necessary.

As a Principal Engineer, you will have the opportunity to become a manager of a small team and then longer term manage the whole of the SRE function (currently 25 and growing). By that point, you will be earning north of $300k.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of cloud native technologies
  • Ensure the reliability and resilience of our systems
  • Evangelize best practices to our 30+ platforms
  • Create dedicated function teams where necessary
  • Manage a small team and then longer term manage the whole of the SRE function
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Engineer with experience in driving SRE adoption in environments with significant scale, risk, and complexity. You should have a strong background in cloud native technologies and experience in implementing SLOs and SLIs or eliminating TOIL through automation.

We want to hear about your experience in pioneering incident management, evangelizing SRE principles through workshops or documentation, and implementing SLOs and SLIs or eliminating TOIL through automation.
