Mine Geologist

The role of a Mine Geologist plays a pivotal part in achieving success by interpreting geological and operational information to influence planning, coal mining, and processing performance.

• Lead coal mined and crushed performance through productivity, quality, and handleability improvements
• Ensure coal recovery meets reserved tonnages and qualities
• Conduct regular pit and stockpile inspections, providing guidance and feedback to planning and production teams on coal mining practices
• Develop daily coal mining, stockpiling, and feed plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
• Provide coal exposure and mining guidance through plans and direct interaction with operations
• Maintain up-to-date, short-term scheduling for in-pit and ROM coal inventory movements
• Improve and maintain reconciliation processes
• Assist in conventional mine geology data collection, interpretation, and project work
• Support the development of new initiatives and projects to improve outcomes and achieve results
• Collaborate with various software systems to collect, review, and generate databases relevant to modeling, mine designs, coal quality, and recovery

• Degree in Geology or Mining Engineering
• Open Cut Coal mining geology experience
• Experience in a coal mining or coal planning role is advantageous
• Understanding of coal quality and beneficiation
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people at all levels
• Ability to convert data into clear, practical advice
• Comfortable with numbers, writing, and using geological software
• Safety-focused and systems-oriented
• Proactive and comfortable speaking up to drive performance
