Insurance Expert Required

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Expert to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our busy insurance practice, you will work closely with our esteemed Partner and wider team of senior lawyers.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in insurance law and dispute resolution, with a strong focus on financial lines insurance, including professional indemnity, Directors & Officers, and management liability insurance.

Your primary responsibility will be the day-to-day handling and management of complex coverage disputes, as well as providing clear written advice to our clients in the construction, engineering, and financial services sectors.

You will work with a highly experienced team that has extensive expertise across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of knowledge in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors' and officers', medical malpractice, public and product liability, property, construction, energy, cyber, marine, transport, and employment.

  • Our clients include general insurers and reinsurers, Lloyds syndicates, global composites, and self-insured PLCs.
  • You will handle high-value coverage disputes for financial institutions, directors and officers insurance, high-value professional liability claims, and subrogated recoveries on behalf of insurers.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years' relevant defendant experience from a reputable private practice insurance or construction team
  • Strong Australian litigation experience and court knowledge
  • The ability to run matters autonomously with limited supervision
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A desire to manage and mentor more junior lawyers in the team
  • A methodical and organised approach to file management
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • A high level of professionalism and integrity
