As a Solicitor, you will play a key role in achieving this vision by providing expert advice on legislation, drafting subordinate laws, and collaborating with the Public Law and Legislation Team.

The role requires a strong understanding of the legislative process and the ability to analyze complex laws and regulations. You will work closely with the Department's leadership to develop and implement policies that promote the health and wellbeing of Victorians.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare high-quality legal advice and guidance on legislation, including subordinate laws and primary legislation.
  • Support the preparation of Ministerial correspondence and Governor in Council briefings.
  • Collaborate with counsel to prepare briefs and instructions for court proceedings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders across government and external partners.

Requirements:

  • Strong government law knowledge and excellent analytical skills.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-admission experience, preferably in public law.
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex information clearly.
