About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our Colocation Regional Engineering team at Amazon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the design, implementation, and operation of our data center controls systems meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal business teams and colocation vendors to identify and resolve operational/design deficiencies that could impact site capability or availability.
  • Provide full life-cycle support to data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement new and existing standards for controls systems in collaboration with the control team of DCE Colocation Design and Standards (CoDeS).
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for controls systems in new colocation data centers to ensure consistent standards across sites.
  • Review and identify risks within the scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for in-flight AWS colocation data centers.
  • Review and identify risks within automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams, controls logic programming, and graphical user interface.
  • Review and accept proposed changes to site-specific control infrastructure against AWS data center standards and document accepted deviations when appropriate.
  • Review colocation and hybrid controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
  • Support the design for existing colocation data center control system upgrades and design-solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures related to control equipment.
  • Conduct site audits of colocation data centers, including producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and turnover for controls systems in new construction projects.
  • Lead internal team training and knowledge-sharing sessions on colocation controls.
  • Review and improve controls-related processes, including quick reference guides for the team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degree, or 10+ years of related experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in project coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements.
  • Business proficiency in English.
  • Able to work in a diverse team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in project coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements.
  • Experience with design, configuration, or servicing of one or more of the following products: Siemens, Honeywell, Trend, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, Tridium, Eaton, ABB, or Johnson Controls.
