About the Role:

  • Manage defined Principal portfolios and act as the main contact to those Principals.
  • Promote sales and marketing activities at a customer, market and supplier level through the effective management of the commercial team and with the close cooperation of functional Managers.
  • Operate as an effective leader, provide focus and direction to a commercial team of 6 direct reports.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, key principals and other major stakeholders operating in the Food & Nutrition market including direct management of key principals and/or customers.
  • Support Brand Owner account management.
  • Coordinate the sales and product strategic alignment between Principal, customer and market.
  • Effectively manage pricing and contract negotiations, stock levels, credit terms and debtor management.
  • Provide technical support and product training to commercial teams relevant to the principal / customer portfolio.
  • Develop and manage the strategic alignment of Principal strategies and marketing activities.
  • Develop and maintain Principal relationships.
  • Achieve business objectives set by the organization.
  • Lead the commercial team in setting and achieving regionally agreed budgeted sales and gross margin targets.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant postgraduate qualifications.
  • Minimum 10 + years' experience in Food & Nutrition related industries with a significant proportion of this time spent in commercial roles.
  • Minimum 5 years' managerial experience leading commercial teams with evidenced sales results and service excellence outcomes.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the chemical industry (raw materials) advantageous.
  • Working knowledge and experience of SAP and MRP systems.
  • Proven track record of leading change, improving engagement and delivering results.
  • Results orientated with strong solution-based selling skills.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen with demonstrated strategic agility.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to coach, develop, mentor and inspire.
  • Must have a best practice continuous improvement and customer excellence mindset.
  • An agile, highly collaborative, and early adopter mindset.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships; build credibility and trust with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Strong persuasion and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills - active listener and outstanding communicator.
  • A strong work ethic, flexible in approach and supportive of others.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills and ability to work well as part of cross functional teams.
  • Ability to travel interstate, trans-tasman, APAC.
