About the Role

New Forests is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Investments team as an Analyst, Investments. This is a newly created full-time position that offers broad exposure to investment activity across natural capital investments, including forestry, agriculture, carbon, and related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Investments team in all investment transactions in Australia and New Zealand, covering forestry, agriculture, carbon, and some infrastructure and processing.
  • Accept responsibility for specific delegated tasks associated with large-scale investment transactions, with guidance and support from the Investments team.
  • Develop skills in the analysis of potential target investments, taking ownership of defined target investments as skills are proven.
  • Own the investment pipeline and transaction database on behalf of the Investments team.
  • Assist in specific investment research projects that support investment activity on behalf of clients.
  • Lead the development of data analysis, dashboards, and other tools to enhance team efficiency.
  • Prepare regular reports on Investment activity and transactions (e.g., quarterly reports, special client reports).
  • Collaborate with the Company Secretary, Operations, Analytics, and Investor Services Departments as required.
  • Establish broad and constructive relationships across New Forests.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to all Investment Team activities, including debates on target investments, preparation of written material, due diligence processes, and identification of new investment opportunities.
Requirements
  • High levels of initiative, curiosity, and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience in the field of forestry or agriculture (highly desirable, but not required).
  • Experience using AI tools to problem-solve and automate tasks (desirable but not required).
  • Relevant undergraduate qualifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint and Excel (particularly financial modeling).
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Good analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects on time.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work within a team environment.
  • Ability to think outside the box, contribute to debate, and communicate ideas and suggestions effectively.
