Medical Receptionist Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our team in a part-time or casual capacity at Highgate Hill Doctors. Our practice provides high-quality primary healthcare in a warm, inclusive, and caring environment.

As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for:

  • Patient management, including greeting and welcoming patients, answering phone enquiries, making, and confirming appointments;
  • Checking, processing, and managing customer accounts;
  • Assisting callers with general enquiries;
  • Maintenance of the Best Practice patient database;
  • Processing and receipting payments using TYRO, DVA, Workcover, and Medicare billing;
  • General housekeeping and upkeep of reception area and doctors' consulting rooms.

You will have:

  • Minimum 12 months experience as a medical receptionist;
  • Experience with Best Practice software (preferred);
  • Familiarity with processing and receipting payments using TYRO, DVA, Workcover, and Medicare billings;
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality;
  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Reliability and punctuality.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patient interactions, including check-in, check-out, and appointment scheduling;
  • Process and manage customer accounts, including payments and receipts;
  • Respond to caller inquiries and provide assistance as needed;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the Best Practice system;
  • Process and receipt payments from various sources, including TYRO, DVA, Workcover, and Medicare;
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a medical receptionist;
  • Proficiency in using Best Practice software;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Able to work autonomously and efficiently;
  • Reliable and punctual with excellent attendance record;
  • Compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020.
