Job Description

The successful candidate will lead a team responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic oversight for the safe, compliant, and effective operation and construction of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs). This role ensures that engineering practices align with industry best practice and applicable regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership and technical oversight across tailings engineering, construction, and surveillance activities.
  • Coordinating the development and implementation of construction scopes, engineering designs, and execution plans.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure design intent is achieved.
  • Monitoring performance of TSFs through regular inspections, instrumentation reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Leading the implementation of QA/QC procedures and ensuring construction is executed to design specifications.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and geotechnical standards and procedures.
  • Supporting the development and mentoring of junior engineers and site technical personnel.
  • Maintaining technical documentation, including design records, change controls, inspection reports, and risk registers.
  • Providing input into governance processes, including conformance and audit preparedness.
About You

You must be a highly experienced professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Mining Engineering)
  • Experience in mining planning software
  • Wide range of experience in technical and engineering aspects of mine design and operation
  • Planning, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
