About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Scientist to join our team and contribute to the success of Healius. As a Diagnostic Microbiologist, you will be responsible for performing manual and automated diagnostic testing, specimen storage and retrieval, equipment maintenance and operation, maintenance of records, and assisting with stock control.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- A Bachelor Degree in Science or equivalent
- Extensive experience and interest in diagnostic microbiology testing
- Proficient keyboard skills
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Must be a cohesive and contributing member of the team and display positive attitudes towards achieving outcomes
- Strong time management, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- The ability to identify and analyse issues, problems, and opportunities in a timely and effective manner
- An understanding of diagnostic microbiology, in particular bacterial identification and sensitivity testing; NATA requirements and QAP for diagnostic pathology
- Experience with Virtuo Blood Culture instrument, Vitek II, and Vitek MS would be an advantage
